Abstract: | The Switched Reluctance Generator SRG has an attractive newlinePotential in view of its robustness dynamic bandwidth and fault tolerance as newlinevariable speed generator The introduction of Soft Magnetic Composites newline SMC paved the way for the construction of complex geometry machines in newlinewhich magnetic flux path is three dimensional 3D and with very low eddy newlinecurrent loss The weight reliability maintenance free operation vibration and newlinethermal performance are crucial issues to be addressed in switched reluctance newlinemachines In this research work a small prototype switched reluctance newlinegenerator has been fabricated indigenously using pre form or prototyping newlineblanks of SMC material SOMALOY10003P newlineInitially dimensional parameters of the switched reluctance newlinemachine have been determined analytically taking into account dimensional newlineconstraints of SMC prototyping blanks Next MagNet6 22 1 a finite element newlinemethod based electromagnetic analysis software package has been used to newlinerefine the design The static electromagnetic characteristics of the Soft newlineMagnetic Composite Switched Reluctance Generator SMC SRG have been newlineobtained and compared with conventional SRG made of M19 silicon steel newlinethrough Finite Element Analysis FEA simulation The torque ripple has newlinebeen estimated and its comparison between SMC SRG and the conventional newlineSRG has been carried out newline |
