Abstract: | India is endowed with a rich tradition of herbal medicines. Many herbals were used by tribal people in different regions of India to cure various diseases. A Scientific Investigations of traditional herbal remedies for Diabetes and Arthritis may provide valuable leads for the development of alternative drugs and strategies. Alternatives are clearly needed for better management of both disorders because of high cost, adverse effect, side effects and poor availability of current therapies for many rural populations, particularly in developing countries. The author investigated on diabetes and arthritic complications. The study focused on to formulate a herbal medicine to cure both disorders. The results of the study provided the evidence to support the use of developed poly herbal formulation as an anti-diabetic and anti-arthritic agent in traditional folklore medicine. The poly herbal formulation did not exhibit any toxicity to the animal model in acute toxicity study. The poly herbal formulation under the study was capable of not only controlling diabetes and Arthritis but also restore the biochemical parameters altered due to Diabetes and Arthritis. So, the developed medicine is useful for the treatment of Diabetes, Arthritis and Diabetes related arthritic complications or else arthritis induced insulin resistance complications or both disorders. To conclude, the antiarthritic and antidiabetic activities of the chosen herbal drugs were validated scientifically; they were used to develop a new polyherbal formulation and standardized with the help of finger print analysis. The prepared polyherbal formulation was proven to have the anti-arthritic and anti-diabetic effect and it could be used as an alternative remedy for the treatment of diabetes and arthritis. The herbal formulations will lead to safe, inexpensive, highly tolerated and convenient treatment for many patients with diabetes and arthritis. In addition, the research may pave a way to identify new lead molecules possessing both antiarthritic and antidiabetic activities. |
