dc.description.abstract | To investigate the impact of climate change on Microinvertebrates and Macroinvertebrates a study was conducted in the Hazrat bal Basin and Gagribal Basin of Dal Lake Water samples were collected from sampling sites during September 2020 to September 2022 on Seasonal basis, surface water samples were taken from the sampling using a 2.5-liter water sampler in polyethylene plastic bottles. Bottles were washed with Lake Water prior to sample collection. Temperature, Depth, and Transparency were determined immediately. Samples of Microinvertebrates (Zooplanktons) were obtained by filtering 50 litres of surface lake water through a Zooplankton hand net made of nylon cloth with a mesh size of 60 µm. The organisms were then preserved in 4% formalin with the addition of 4-5 drops of glycerine (which keeps the organisms flexible) and 5% Macroinvertebrates were collected with the help of Ekman s Dredge having an area of 15×15cm2 and hand picking method. the individuals were physically separated using forceps and brushes before being preserved in plastic bottles containing either 4% formalin or 70% alcohol. Abundance of Microinvertebrates (Zooplanktons) in Dal Lake: In all, 154 species of Microinvertebrates (Zooplanktons) belongs to Crustacea (Cladocera, Copepoda, and Ostracoda) and Rotifera were identified during our seasonal study in Dal Lake Srinagar from 2020 to 2022. Mostly pollution tolerant species are found it is a definite sign of racing culture eutrophication. Because these species are tolerant of anoxic conditions and are used in bio-assessment of fresh water bodies. Abundance of Macroinvertebrates in Dal Lake: A total of 61 species of Macroinvertebrates belonging to Annelida, Arthropoda, and Mollusca were reported in Dal Lake Srinagar between 2020 and 2022. These species were found during various seasons in Kashmir. The bio-indicator species that are tolerant to anoxic conditions in the water bodies are the dominant species that were seen over the course of the entire study period in Dal Lake.
