Abstract: | Electric overhead travelling crane is widely used in Industries to move extremely heavy or bulky loads. The hoist of EOT crane needs high torque and less RPM for which gearbox is used. The components of hoist needs frequent maintenance especially gearbox. Various possible alternatives are explored but Permanent Magnet Direct Drive is found to be best alternative Implementation of PMDD can completely eliminate use of Gearbox. Prototype of the hoist operated by direct drive is attempted to design and developed to lift the load of 100 kg. Drafting of PMDD motor is done is Solid works. Modeling and simulation is done in Simcentre MotorSolve for PMDD. The Designed PMDD is able to give the torque of 40 to 65 NM at 15 to 50 RPM to lift 100 kg load so can be used for hoisting mechanism of EOT crane. Experimentation on the PMDD hoist is performed for various combinations to check the feasibility and implementation by varying the different parameters affecting the performance of the EOT crane like lifting capacity 10-100 kg working speed 10-50 RPM and height 2-4 m. The lifting and lowering time is compared for conventional hoist and PMDD hoist. That almost gives a nearby result. Hence it proves the feasibility and implementation of the proposed concept. Further vibration analysis is also done for conventional hoist and PMDD operated hoist. Where PMDD operated hoist gives better results. This PhD Thesis would be useful for mechanical design of EOT cranes in industry. newline newline |
