Title: Clinical Evaluation of Yava Payas and Mudga Yusha on Associated Symptoms of Menstruation in Young Women

Abstract: Introduction: Now a days, menstruation is seemed to be associated with symptoms such newlineas abdomen pain, lower backache, nausea, pimples and others so prevalently that they newlineare commonly called as associated symptoms of menstruation. Dysmenorrhea newlinecontributing major part showing prevalence rate 84% in India. On contrary, Ayurved newlinescience specifies that the feminine cycle ought to be without pain and burning sensation. newlineIn this study Mudga Yusha and Yava Payas - dietary articles recommended under newlinedietetic code for menstruating women are developed and clinically evaluated on newlineassociated symptoms of menstruation in young women. newlineAim: To evaluate the role of Mudga Yusha and Yava Payas on associated symptoms of newlinemenstruation in young women newlineMaterials and Methods: In the pharmaceutical study, traditional dietary articles Mudga newlineYusha (MY) and Yava Payas (YP) were developed as ready to cook products. The newlinemodifications were based on preparatory difficulties of these traditional forms and newlinepreparatory convenience for menstruating women. In pilot experiment, seven variation of newlineMY and four variations of YP were tried to develop SOP for ready to cook MY and YP newlineproducts. The nutritional and stability profile of both products was developed for safe newlineconsumption. newlineClinical efficacy of both products was tested through single-arm non-randomized newlineopen-label clinical trial in 208 study participants. Dietary intervention MY and YP ( for newlinelunch and dinner) were advised for first three days of menstruation foe continuous six newlinecycles. Associated symptoms of menstruation viz pain in lower abdomen, lower newlinebackache, breast tenderness, pain in calf muscle, headache were assessed with VAS newlinescale. Nausea symptom was assessed with Nausea vomiting degree scale and assessment newlineof pimples (acne) was done with Pimples scale. newlineSymptoms, loose motion and constipation were assessed with Bristol stool form newlinescale while loss of appetite and hot flushes were assessed through Appetite scale and by newlineHFRD Scale respectively on the fourth day of every menstrual cycle.
