dc.description.abstract | In the present study physico-chemical and biological parameters, WQI and Pollution load of river Ganga at Kanpur were studied. Study was conducted for one year. Six sampling stations were selected for sampling on the river Ganga. The collected samples were analyzed for different Physico-chemical parameters viz.; Temperature, pH, Turbidity, Electrical conductivity (EC), Total Alkalinity (TA), Total Hardness (TH), Dissolved Oxygen (DO), Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD), Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), Total suspended Solids (TSS), Chloride, Nitrate, Sulphate, Phosphate and biological parameters viz., Total and Fecal Coliform. The results were compared with the surface water quality standards. Water Quality Index (WQI) was also calculated to find out the overall water quality of the study area as well as pollution load was also calculated of the studied stations. The observed values of major parameters were slightly higher than the permissible limits. newline | |
