Abstract: The thesis is an attempt to study the transition in society, polity and economy of early medieval north India. The work is based on empirical data culled out from different sources. The work is divided into seven chapters, including the Introduction and Conclusion. The study highlights the major shift in social, political and economic domains of society during the early medieval period in north India. This intermediate phase was succeeded by the greater political control of the Medieval state. The period was not a dark phase but indicated continuous progress in different fields hence was a period of progressive development having regional variations. newline
