A Study of Adjustment and Life Skills of Adolescents in Relation to Their GenderType of School and Residential Background

Abstract

Analysis and interpretation of data is crucial step in research because it enables the newlineinvestigator to draw conclusions which may be used for the benefit of the society. newlineData is meaningless without analysis and interpretation. Analysis of data includes newlineclassifying, assembling, manipulating and summarizing of collecting data to find newlineanswers to research queries. This chapter includes statistical analysis of data as well newlineas interpretation of the results as per stated objectives of the study. The study is about newlineadjustment and life skills of adolescents of Himachal Pradesh. The effect of newlineGender(G), Type of School (TS), and Residential Background (RB) on adjustment newlineand life skills was investigated. Data was composed from 1200 adolescents of four newlinedistricts of Himachal Pradesh regarding the life skills and adjustment. To analyze this newlinedata, statistical tests like t-test, analysis of variance (ANOVA), and Pearson s newlinecorrelation coefficient were used. The t-test was applied to determine the significant newlinedifference in the life skills of adolescents on the basis of gender, locale and types of newlineschool. The ANOVA was used to find the difference in life skills on the basis of newlinegender, type of school, and residential background. Pearson s coefficient of newlinecorrelation was used to find the relationship of life skills with gender, type of school, newlineand residential background. newlineThe present section attempts to find out the level of adjustment and life skill among newlineadolescents. The scores of individuals have been compiled and the distribution of the newlinewhole data is presented graphically in intervals. newline
