Abstract: Quorum sensing is a signal-based, cell-to-cell communication mechanism responsible for regulating various pathogenic traits of microorganisms. The pathogenic parameters such as pigment production, motility, antibiotic resistance, biofilm formation, etc. are mediated through quorum sensing. The interruption in quorum sensing system remarkably reduces the pathogenicity. Thus, it can be one of the targets to deal with multi-drug resistance. Some molecules with quorum sensing interrupting activity are termed as anti-quorum sensing compounds. This study reports isolation and characterization of such compounds from the marine epibiotic bacteria found on the surface of weeds collected from the coastal area of Gujarat, India. Upon screening of 91 isolates, four epibiotic bacteria exhibited anti-QS activity against Chromobacterium violaceum MTCC 2656 a QS monitor strain. The four potent isolates were identified as Bacillus zhangzhouensis SK4, Exiguobacterium profundum SE1, Pseudomonas stutzeri SJ4, and Shewanella indica SU1 and their NCBI accession numbers are MW386900, MW644530, MW547117, and MZ613308 respectively. newline
