Abstract: | Mental Health (MH) is a state of emotional, psychological, and social well-being. A person newlinewith good MH can fight the stress and realize their capabilities. MH disorders are a major newlineconcern among all age groups, especially in childhood and adolescence, as various newlinecognitive and socio-emotional developments occur in the brain during this age. School newlinegoing students acquire skills that shape their future MH, which has always been of great newlineconcern. Child abuse, trauma, domestic violation, a witness of violation at any stage, and newlinesexual assault are major reasons for MH disorders in children and adolescents. Exam newlineanxiety and depression are common MH disorders among school students, which poor newlinetheir academic performance, drain their energy, disturb their schedule, and disturb their newlinefocus on their goals. Hence, MH disorders must be seriously considered, examined, and newlinetreated properly. newlineMindfulness-based interventions, including yoga and meditation, are a great way to newlineeradicate the MH problem and improve physical and biochemical health. The reported newlinestudies reveal that these mindfulness-based interventions are very effective against MH newlinedisorders, i.e., release stress and remove depression and anxiety by acting on the nervous newlinesystem and biochemical pathways. Yoga has recently gained huge popularity in the highly newlinepopulated and busy world. Some people use yoga to remove their stress and retreat for newlineproper and optimal functioning. Yoga is a mental and physical activity, but physically, it is newlinedifferent from other physical workouts and exercises. Yoga provides us with physical newlinebenefits and gives us many more, especially better MH. The practice of yoga greatly newlineimpacts the reduction and eradication of depression, stress, and anxiety. Hence, newlineimplementing yoga in schools could be a treat for good MH among students. newlineHerein, we aimed to study the effect of Yoga practices on (i) gratitude, (ii) newlinemindfulness, and (iii) exam anxiety among school going early-adolescents. newline |
