For a safer world, there is a crucial requirement to teach self-defense to girls newlinefrom an early age, so that they grow up to become self-reliant, strong and confident newlineindividuals in future. Hence provision of safe and secure environment and inclusion newlineof self-defense class in all schools must be made an integral part of school newlinedevelopment policies, plans and programmes. Keeping in view this perspective, the newlinepresent study was conducted with the purpose to assess the awareness of school going newlinegirls regarding self-defense, to develop intervention package on Self-defense for newlineschool going girls , to study the efficacy of developed intervention package and to newlineprepare guidebook for parents and teachers on self-defense for school going girls. A newlinesample of 350 school going girls belonging to 6th, 7th and 8th classes of were drawn newlinepurposively through a preliminary survey in selected government (middle and higher newlinesecondary) schools. The Background information proforma was developed to get the newlinegeneral information about the personal and familial details of selected samples, the newline Awareness Scale regarding Self-Defense (ASSD) was constructed and standardized newlineto assess the awareness and practices of school going girls regarding self-defense. The newlinescale comprised of awareness of school going girls in terms of physical, psycho-social newlineand economic aspects of self-defense and practices of school going girls in different newlinesituations for their self-defense.
