Theoretical and computational analysis of few electronic properties of quantum confined compounds

Abstract

In this thesis, an attempt is made to present a theoretical and computational analysis of newlinefew electronic properties of quantum confined compounds which, in-turn depend on the newlinedispersion relation of the carriers. The methodology is the formulation of k.p method, newlinethe method of average in the energy and quantum mechanics respectively. The dispersion newlinerelations generate density of states (DOS) functions in 3D, 2D and 1D of various quantized newlinematerials under different physical conditions. These DOS functions are multiplied by the newlineFermi function and integrated over energy to derive the expressions of the carrier statistics newline(CS) which again depend on the dimensionality of wave vector space of the charge carriers. newline
