Abstract: | Diabetes Mellitus is a progressive metabolic disorder that presents a significant newlineglobal public health challenge greatly impacting the wellbeing of individuals and newlinefamilies. Type 2 diabetes is more often seen in elderly persons, although it is also more newlinecommon in lower age groups, notably among young adults. This study aimed to newlineexamine the impact of an intervention on early adults with Type 2 diabetes mellitus. newlineThe objectives of the study were to develop the hypoglycaemic herbal powders and newlinestudy the effect of intervention of the herbal powders with the support of nutrition newlinecounselling on parameters like blood glucose levels, HbA1c and lipid profile among the newlineType 2 early adult diabetic subjects aged between 20 to 40 years were randomly newlineallocated to one control group and five experimental groups, group - I (Cinnamon newlinepowder), group - II (Pumpkin seeds powder), group - III (Spirulina powder), group - IV newline(Soursop leaves powder) and group - V (Blend of the four powders) based on the newlinesupplementation with 30 subjects in each group. Assessment of anthropometric newlinemeasurements, biochemical tests blood glucose levels and lipid profile, clinical newlinesymptoms and dietary intake were carried out at both pre and post intervention. |
