Abstract: Power electronics is used for converting electrical power from the newlineavailable form to the required form. While power is being converted from one newlineform to the other using power electronic converters, two aspects are newlineconsidered to be of significance. The power conversion efficiency and power newlinequality are the two important aspects. newlineBasically, power electronic converters are classified as DC to DC, newlineDC to AC, AC to DC and AC to AC converter. By using power electronic newlineconverters, the parameters like voltage, current, frequency and number of newlinephases may be modified. However, the output power that could be supplied newlineby the power electronic converter is always less than the power drawn by the newlineconverter and the difference between the power drawn and power supplied by newlinethe converter is known as the losses. The pursuit of minimization of losses is newlinethe basis of various attempts in the design of power electronic converters. newlineFurther, since the fossil fuel reserves are fast depleting, the lookout newlinefor renewable energy sources have grown in the recent decades and the newlineinternational scientific communities are engaged in the research and newlinedevelopment of energy efficient power electronic converters. newlineThe focus of this research is mainly on the development of a set of newlinepower electronic converters, which guarantee acceptable levels of power newlineconversion efficiency and power quality. The applicability of Matrix newlineConverters and the partial resonant inverter driven Matrix Converters for the newlinedevelopment of electrical drives have been studied in detail in this research. newline newline
