Abstract: In the present study, existing sanitation practices and usage of pond in the study area was assessed by conducting households survey. Further, quality of pond water and ground water in vicinity area of ponds was also analyzed. The results were compared with BIS/WHO standards for drinking purposes. Physico-chemical and bacteriological analysis of pond water (n=7) and ground water (n=29) were carried out in selected villages during pre-monsoon and postmonsoon season to assess its suitability for various ecological and drinking purposes. Further, this also helped to evaluate the impact of ponds water contamination on ground water quality. newline
