Abstract: | Introduction: Breast Cancer is fairly common in the younger age group (25 to 49 newlineyears), accounting for almost 37.7% of all cases, which is a pretty high number. Breast newlineCancer peaks in the age group of 50 to 69 (which accounts for almost 46.5% of all newlinecases) and then starts reducing in the age group of 70 years and above. It may not newlineactually reducing in above 70 years of age, but it also in the issues of Quality of Life. newlineMethodology: The Complete Study Protocol was explained to institutional ethical newlinecommittee and ethical clearance was obtained. After this total of 100 mastectomy newlinepatients were selected based on the selection criteria from attached hospitals of college newlineof Physiotherapy. All the subjects were randomly allocated into two groups, with 50 newlinemastectomy patients in each group. Group A (Experimental) received upper limb Low newlineresistance training along with Manual Lymphatic drainage techniques. Group B newline(Control) received upper limb ROM exercises along with Manual Lymphatic drainage newlinetechniques. Outcome measurements were QOL by LYMPH-ICF, Lymphedema by newlineUpper limb Anatomical circumferences, Hand Grip by Hand Dynamometer and Upper newlinelimb function by Timed Functional Arm and Shoulder Test ( T FAST). Data in both newlinegroups were analysed in baseline and end of the study (12 weeks). newlineResults: Data in both groups were analysed in baseline and end of the study (12 weeks). newlineThe Statistical Inferences obtained from all the outcome measures using Paired Sample newlinet test in within the group and between the groups Independent t test. Statistically newlinesignificance of all outcome measures seen in experimental group than control Group. newlineConclusion: The study concluded that in experimental group shows better results newlinecompared with control group in reduction of upper limb lymphedema and improvement newlinein QOL, Hand Grip strength and shoulder function newlineKey words: Mastectomy, QOL, LYMPH-ICF, T FAST, Lymphedema newline |
