Abstract: This report utilized various transition metal-based metallosurfactant (MS) and anionic surfactants. MSs based on Cr, Mn, Fe, Cu metals i.e. CrCTAC, MnCTAC, FeCTAC, CuCTAC were used in combination with sodium dodecyl sulphate, SDS and sodium oleate, SO. The mixture of MS and anionic surfactants was prepared at different molar ratios varying from 90:10 to 10:90. The characterization was done using different techniques such as DLS, zeta potential, FESEM, CLSM and SAXS. The DLS and zeta potential studies revealed the formation and stability of aggregates formed in metallo-catanionic mixtures. From each mixture, two molar ratios (70:30 and 30:70) from extreme ends were selected to analyze the morphology of aggregates. In FeCTAC-based mixtures with SDS and SO, the 70:30 molar ratio contains micelles while the 30:70 molar ratio contains lamellar structures. While in other metallo-catanionic mixtures, only shape was defined due to a weak scattering pattern. The selected molar ratios of mixtures were used for interaction studies with HEWL, BSA, cyt c and two bacterial proteins. SDS-PAGE study were performed to check the effect of aggregates on the primary structure of protein. For secondary, tertiary structure of protein, CD and emission spectroscopy were used. The mechanism of quenching was analyzed from the absorption spectra of proteins. The extrinsic fluorophores (ANS, pyrene, congo red, and ThT) were also utilized to study the microenvironmental changes in proteins.
