Abstract: newline Industrial growth and infrastructural development go hand in hand for the rapid development of a nation. India is one of the fastest growing economies in the world, and many infrastructural projects, which include townships, housing, built-up infrastructure etc. are underway to cater the need of the growing population. Shelter is the one of the basic needs and evergrowing demand for the developing country like India. Housing is the need of the hour to meet the growing requirement of the increasing population. Government of India is also supporting this mission under Housing for all scheme as a flagship event by Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) in the recent past. (Ministry of housing and urban affairs, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Urban (PMAY-U), launched on 25th June 2015). Bricks are one among the important building materials used in the construction sector. More commonly, conventional bricks and lightweight Fly Ash-Lime-Gypsum (FALG) bricks of size 200 mm x 100 mm x 70 mm are in use for housing construction. Excessive use of natural resources-soil, in manufacturing conventional bricks, cause depletion of the soil- a valuable material and becomes a scarce resource.
