Abstract: The fieldwork was conducted in two districts, i.e. Amritsar and Rohtak, by applying a mixed- approach, as quantitative and qualitative data was collected for a sample size of 260 respondents. The findings; majority of respondents were young, and 76.5% had faced gender discrimination. The 19 case studies identified patriarchal ethos, poverty and belonging to dalit caste, sexual harassment, as the underlying causes behind women sportspersons sub-ordination. The suggestions for policy framers, sports coaches, to reduce gender gap among sportspersons were provided. newline
