Researcher has tried to evaluate the role and functions of the courts to understand the consumer s claims in railways. This research also focuses on that when in the course of working a railway an untoward incident under section 124A of Railways Act,1989 occurs or there has been any, neglect , defaultor wrongful act on the part of the railway administration, a passenger who was inflicted injuries or killed is entitled for compensation. Occasionally railways refuse to take any responsibilities for the actions of such claims. The researcher realizes the importance of studying all the problems faced by the consumers and challenges their legal rights before the Claims Tribunal. To offer customized services, it is essential to understand the expectations and perceptions of the consumers with regard to quality of services offered by the rail system. In addition to the research this study could be useful to the law makers, judiciary, advocates and consumers of railways as it will have a collaborative framework to understand the problems and rights of consumers. It is an in-depth study of the present laws on consumer claims under the Railway Claims Tribunal and the future rights sought by them. In this current study, the researcher aimed to focus on the functioning of the Railway Claims Tribunal and the problems that consumers encounter in obtaining compensation. The Ministry of Railways must check RCTs to ensure appropriate functioning. newline
