In the recent past, fungal infections are increasing day by day. In India, more than a million people have been reported with fungal infections. Rapid and severe infections are due to compromises in immune function. Exploitation of bioactive components present in the agro wastes may lead to development of drug moiety. emulgel, a preferred topical delivery system nowadays, are site specific in action by reducing systemic side effects with increased efficacy. The present research work focuses on antimicrobial activity of emulgel formulated from the extracts of agrowastes. The agrowastes such as the rind of Punica granatum, Citrus limetta and leaf of Musa acuminata were chosen for the study. The extraction was carried out in Soxhlet extractor. Ethanol and chloroform were used as solvents for extraction in different ratios as 1:8, 1:16 and 1:24 in %w/v with the rinds and leaves respectively. The prepared extracts were characterized using Gas Chromatography Mass Spectroscopy (GCMS) and Fourier Transformed Infrared Spectrophotomer (FTIR). The extract characterisation confirmed the presence of bioactive components by compound identifications and the associated functional groups. The comparison of the extracts was made based on the existence of bioanalytes. The Pseudoternary plot was constructed. Only the extracts with bioactive components were chosen for formulating the emulgels. The extract (Aqueous phase), coconut oil (Oil phase), Tween 80 (surfactant) and Span 80 (cosurfactant) were used for this study. From among different Smix ratios, 1:1 ratio was optimized. The emulgels were prepared by incorporating the emulsion into carbapol 940 hydrogel. newline
