dc.description.abstractnewline Solar energy is the most effective defender against the energy crisis out of all renewable resources since it is freely available. It is estimated that the energy radiated by the sun in one minute is sufficient to meet the energy requirements for one year. India is the seventh-largest country in the world and is located near the equator, hence, it receives large amounts of solar irradiation throughout the year. Solar energy is available in most parts of the country including rural areas for about 300 clear sunny days in India. Every year India receives 5000 trillion kWh of solar energy. During the summer, over 90% of India receives large amounts of solar radiation, ranging from 3.0 to 6.5 kWh/m2 /day (10.8 23.4 MJ/m2 /day). The energy demand of India is in the third position in comparison with the developed countries. Out of the total electricity demand of the country 50% is generated from coal, and only 10% is generated from solar energy. The reason for this less utilization of solar energy is the poor conversion efficiency of solar photovoltaic power generation systems.
