dc.description.abstract | In the present study an attempt was made to determine the most commonly used agricultural pesticide at Manalmedu village Nagai Dt., Tamilnadu State, India. Rogor (Dimethoate) 30 per cent EC. The organophosphorous pesticide effect on Indian green frog Rana hexadactyla was studied. The lethal concentrations (LC100), Median lethal concentration (LC50) and sub lethal concentration (LC0) were determined. The effect of pesticides on the heamatological parameters like, Total Red blood cells (RBC) White blood cells (WBC,) Heamoglobin (Hb) content Biochemical parameters like Blood glucose. Blood urea, Serum uric acid, Serum phosphorus, Serum sodium, Serum cholesterol, Serum protein and Serum potassium were studied in the control and experimental frogs. Apart from heamatological and biochemical parameters, histological changes of the kidney, liver and pancreas due to this exposure of this species of frog to various doses of the pesticides were also observed. Basing on the observations and the results, discussions were made in the light of published references. | en_US |
