Generation, distribution, and consumption of electricity are all newlinepredicted to experience unprecedented levels of growth and difficulty newlinethroughout the development of this century. Diesel generators and newlinereciprocating engines are still extensively utilized for a broad variety of power newlineapplications, especially in distant places, and as backup energy sources in newlinecertain independent systems such as a power supply for a remote newlinetelecommunication tower. Because of growing public awareness of the need newlinefor environmental protection and the goal to become less reliant on fossil newlinefuels to produce energy, environmentally friendly power-generating newlinetechnologies will play a major part in the future supply of electricity. These newlinetechnologies can generate electricity without negatively impacting the newlineenvironment. These technologies include the production of electricity from newlinerenewable energy resources such as Photovoltaic (PV), wind, biomass, hydro, newlinegeothermal, ocean wave, and tides power generating technologies. newlineExtensive research has been carried out in the field of renewable newlinepower generation systems all around the globe for the last half-century. This newlineresearch has included feasibility studies, control, computer modeling, and newlineexperimental work. As a direct consequence of this, the production of newlineelectricity via the use of wind and PV has become a practical possibility, and newlineconsiderable research and development work is now being conducted on a newlinevariety of additional renewable power generation technologies, including newlineosmotic, ocean waves and tides, Fuel Cell, and geothermal. newline newline
