dc.description.abstract | In recent years, the most significant issues faced by the various newlinedeveloping and underdeveloped countries are long-lasting scarcity of potable newlinefresh clean drinking water. Water scarcity is considered as one of the newlinechallenging issues all over the world. Nowadays, due to environmental newlinecontamination as well as more brackish water, the demand for fresh water has newlinebeen increased all over the country. Solar energy is the best option since solar newlineenergy is freely available that can be utilized to produce potable water. In newlineaddition to this, numerous techniques have been put forth to achieve fresh newlineclean distilled water, but the rate of production seems very poor. Productivity newlineenhancement of solar still is considered as a crucial task and it needs to be newlinetaken into consideration. The underlying motivation of this thesis is to obtain newlineoptimal productivity of the solar still and effective solar still model using newlinethree major phases. newlineAt an initial phase, the experimental investigation is carried out on a newlinesingle slope solar still constructed and tilted at 15 degrees to the latitude. newlineHere the experimental analysis based on two different types of solar stills newlinenamely the active and the passive solar stills are conducted concurrently at newlineCoimbatore located at Tamil Nadu. This work is established to obtain newlineenhanced water level in the terrain and remote areas. Here, the active still newlineutilizes spiral collector that is capable of preheating the water entering into newlinethe basin. The efficiency obtained by the active solar still provides high yield newlinewhen compared with the passive solar still. From the experimental analysis it newlineis noted that the active solar still achieves 3.2 kg per day whereas the passive newlinesolar still achieves 1.5 kg per day. newline | |
