Abstract: Enzymes are biological catalysts that mediate a wide range of biochemical events that occur newlinewithin the cells of all living things, including microbes, plants, and animals,. They are newlineessential to our life and have been used extensively in the manufacturing of foods and newlinemedications over time. Over the last 50 years, the development of more advanced newlinemethodologies has led to the discovery of entirely new fields of enzyme research. Enzyme newlinekinetics: their categorization according to cofactors, reaction mechanism, and kind of reaction newlinecatalyzed. Another method that is improving our knowledge of enzyme catalysis is newlinecomputational enzymology. Carbonic anhydrase (CA) are lyase group of enzyme that newlinecatalyzes an important reaction i.e. reversible hydration of CO2. From literature survey it is newlinequite clear that CA has been reported in a variety of fungal, bacterial and animal species but newlinevery few have been reported in plant species. CA has been known as a promising biocatalyst newlinein CO2 sequestration. Although there are a lot of research work on CO2 sequestration utilizing newlineCAs from animal and bacterial species, reports of CO2 sequestration from plant species are newlinestill lacking. To explore CA enzyme in plant species and their CO2 sequestration potential we newlinehave carried out the research work in this area. Computational studies have also been newlineperformed to explore the structural and functional aspects of CA. Application of CA in newlineorganic biotransformations have also been studied. newline
