Abstract: Public libraries are aware of their responsibility to meet the information demands of all societal segments. The state and federal governments have taken steps to make public libraries a major source of knowledge for persons in formal occupations. For the growth of libraries and information centres to equip public libraries with information, the National Mission of Libraries, established by the Ministry of Culture, has offered proposals. The public library is thought of being a place for the people. It is a local accessible portal to knowledge that offers the fundamental building blocks for lifelong learning and promotes the cultural growth of the individual and social groups. Regardless of age, sex, caste, religion, education level, or social studies, everyone can access the public library, and most users are able to find the materials they need there. An open library is one that is run by a nonprofits organisation. A library is a growing organisation, and the library movement is the story of its planned growth and development. It provides information on how libraries are established, maintained, and operated. Without offering its residents access to free public libraries, no nation in the world can advance. Establishing service organisations like public libraries is essential for a democratic nation like India if it wants to further the democratisation of information and advance general public understanding of social, cultural, historical, scientific, and technological topics. newlineThe main purpose of this study was to examine the awareness and use of library resources and services by the users in District public library of Uttar Pradesh. To achieve the objectives of the study, a survey method was conducted using convenient sampling method. 1260 questionnaires were distributed to the selected public library users. Out of which 1192 questionnaires were received back and 72 questionnaires rejected due to incompleteness and total 1120 were selected for the study.
