Abstract: | newlineThis study investigates the evolving tourism landscape in Ranchi and Ramgarh districts of Jharkhand, with a focus on its impact on tribal communities. The research aims to identify emerging tourism trends, assess their socio-economic implications, and evaluate effects on the cultural integrity and traditional livelihoods of tribal populations. The study employs a mixed-methods approach, utilizing primary data collected through structured surveys, in-depth interviews, and focus group discussions. The quantitative data, gathered through systematic sampling at tourist sites and collaboration with local authorities, covers diverse constructs including socio-economic factors, cultural impacts, and community perceptions. Likert scale questions facilitate a quantitative analysis of attitudes and opinions. Qualitative insights are derived from key stakeholders, including tribal community members, tourism officials, and local experts, providing a nuanced understanding of cultural preservation and socio-economic changes. Secondary data from reputable sources such as tourism development corporations and survey reports enriches the analysis. The sample population of 625 respondents, comprising tourists, local communities, and tourism officials, ensures a representative and diverse dataset. The study employs a purposive sampling strategy for qualitative components, capturing insights from tribal community members and experts. The research instrument, a self-structured questionnaire, is validated through a pilot study and systematically refined. The main study, conducted between May and October 2022, encounters challenges in data collection, resulting in a discrepancy between the initial target and actual data collected. Thematic and statistical analyses are employed to derive meaningful insights. The findings contribute to the identification of strategies for promoting sustainable tourism practices that benefit both local communities and the tourism industry. The study adds to the understanding of the complex interplay between tourism trends and tribal livelihoods, offering valuable insights for policymakers, local communities, and the tourism sector. newline newline |
