Abstract: Given the background of the Indian Society with all its complications of newlinewidening gap between the poor and the rich, growing unemployment, displaced newlinelabour force and barging communalism, the families get disturbed and its impact newlineis heavily seen in the children. Some of them dare to be out of it by sheer run off. newlineIt is a common sight of a child either working in a wayside motel or sweeping the newlinepassenger-carriage in a train, picking up rags in the unhealthy dustbins and road newlinesides, and yet seen happily spending time with children of similar fate on a newlinerailway platform. These are the children yet to realise the importance of a future newlineand a secure life. Theirs is a life for the present. But they lack affection of newlinesacrificing parents. Their future is gloomy, uncertain and non-guaranteed. The newlineworld moves on impassively putting them and their aspirations aside. newlineThere are a number of houses created by philanthropists through out the country. newlineThese may not meet the needs of all the young children who stray away from newlinetheir own homes. But the ones that are serving the cause of street children newlinefacilitating their rehabilitation are the real legacies of God. These homes are the newlinemonumental expressions of a universal love. newline
