Abstract: | The Marathwada is one of the popular tribal regions of the Maharashtra state. It is rich in vegetation, valleys and mountains with ample forests. It has huge wealth of medicinal plants. The tribal people in the Marathwada region have knowledge of medicinal plants. The type forests are of dry deciduous type (Naik, 1998, Wadood Khan, 1985, Zate, 1983). newlineIt is evident from the literature the plants of these forests are used as herbal medicine for the control of plants and animals including human beings. The critical studies about the use of medicinal plants, about their conservation and identification, about their use for bio-control of pathogens and about their phytochemicals are meager in the Marathwada region. The Marathwada particularly the Nnanded district is very rich in medicinal flora point of view. The documentation, conservation and scientific utilization of plants and their phytochemicals and their bioefficacy, the Phytochemistry and Pharmacological study of medicinal plants feel to be most urgent needs of the study region. The bioactive compounds present in the medicinal plants are proved to be the great reservoirs of new potential drugs. They may prove huge resource for the coming new biotechnologies. They may be a frontier. They may prove key resources for new genes and biotechnologically valuable compounds. The phytochemicals are now seen as the first step towards the discovery of useful drugs. The phytochemistry and Pharmacological study of medicinal plants feels to be a most urgent need of this study region. Considering these facts the topic entitled as Studies on Phytochemistry and Pharmacology of Some Medicinal Plant in Marathwada is selected for the present research work. newlineThe present research study is aimed at development of physicochemical parameters and to investigate the active principles present in the test medicinal plants newlinexvi newlineand their use against various disorders. Medicinal plants are considered as a valuable source of natural products for development of medicines against various diseases. |
