dc.description.abstract | Separation and purification of chemicals from mixtures is an essential integral part of almost all newlinechemical and allied processes. The degree of difficulty of separation may depend upon a number newlineof factors like nature of the mixture (aqueous or non aqueous), nature of components (polar, non newlinepolar, bulky, straight chain), concentration of components (dilute or otherwise), among other newlinefactors. From the point of view of environmental regulations, process requirements and newlineeconomic consideration, isolation, separation and purification of chemicals is needed. Since ages newlinedistillation is used for the purpose due to reasons like widely available technical knowledge. newlineWith distillation it is almost possible to affect any separation. However the costs associated are newlinemany times big which call for other separation operations or modified variants of distillation to newlinebe considered. It is possible to use in situ separation. It is also possible to use advanced newlinedistillation methods and other unexplored separation techniques. | |
