Abstract: It is with great pleasure that I present my thesis on the topic of quotA Study Of Existing Legal Framework For The Protection Of Rights Of Persons With Disability (Divyangjan) In India: With Special Reference To Its Enforcement In The District Of Lucknow.quot The issue of disability rights and accessibility is of immense importance in our society and has garnered a significant amount of attention in recent years. The purpose of this thesis is to examine the current state of disability law in India and its implementation in the city of Lucknow. newlineThe study focuses on the rights and protections granted to persons with disabilities under the Disability Act of 1995 and later on under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 and its subsequent amendments. It also aims to analyze the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities in accessing these rights and the measures being taken by the government and non-government organizations to address these issues. The study will be carried out in the city of Lucknow as it offers a diverse representation of the disability community in India. newlineThis thesis serves as a comprehensive analysis of disability law in India and a similar framework in international law. The research will provide valuable insights into the strengths and weaknesses of the current system and suggest recommendations for improvement. Additionally, the thesis will shed light on the barriers faced by individuals with disabilities in accessing their rights and the measures being taken to address these barriers. newlineThe importance of this study cannot be overstated. The United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which was ratified by India in 2007, recognizes the rights of persons with disabilities and calls for their full and equal participation in society. This study will help to evaluate the progress made towards realizing these rights in India and will inform the development of more effective policies and programs. newlineI hope that this thesis will contribute to the ongoing discourse on
