Child labour in India a socio legal study with special reference to Baddi industrial area of Himachal Pradesh

Abstract

The present work is divided in to 7 chapters. Chapter 1 deals with the child labour welfare in Historical Perspective Development, under various eras. This chapter also deals with concept and forms of child labour its causes, objectives of the study, research Methodology and research hypothesis. Chapter 2 deals with Review of literature. Chapter 3 discusses the international endeavours and International legal framework for Child Labour. Chapter 4 discusses National Legislative framework on child labour, Policy Perspectives and provisions for protection of Child Labour under Indian constitution. Chapter 5 deals with judicial response to Child Labour. Chapter 6 is devoted to an empirical analysis of Child Labour in the District solan, Baddi in the form of response collection. Chapter 7 is based upon the research, the conclusion and suggestions has been given. After analysing the problem of child labour it is concluded that there is no dearth of laws but there is definitely lack of action on the part of responsible authorizes which results into further increase in child labour instead of its getting reduced. One of the major and most vital reason behind the problem of child labour is widespread poverty. The real panacea in abolishing child labour lies in improving the socio-economic conditions of the poor. Transformation of mind set of people employing child labour is must. Therefore combined efforts of Government and society are required to eliminate child labour. newline
