Abstract: newlineWhen pulverized coal is burned, approximately 80% fly ash and 20% bottom ash are produced. Fly ash is used as a substitute material in the construction industry. Pond ash is made up of unused fly ash and bottom ash that has been mixed with water for disposal. Pond ash is disposed of over large areas of land, causing pollution in the form of contaminated soil, water, and air. Fly ash is widely recognized as a pozzolana and is used in the cement manufacturing industries. Because pond ash is coarser and less pozzolanic, it is not used in cement production. It is essential to conduct research on the viability of using pond ash. Its suitability for potential use in concrete can partially or completely replace sand as an alternative construction material, contributing to sustainability and reducing environmental burden. newlineWith the tremendous growth of megastructure construction around the world, the demand for self-compacting concrete (SCC) application is increasing. Because of its improved performance and working environment, self-compacting concrete is regarded as a breakthrough in concrete technology. SCC is the most technologically advanced and revolutionary development in concrete technology over the years. Because of its distinct advantages, SCC is eventually replacing conventional concrete. This was a major driving force in the development of the self-compacting concrete, which is used to test the feasibility of using pond ash. newlineThe characterization of pond ash in terms of physical, chemical, mineralogical, and morphological properties is essential for determining its suitability as a construction material. After being collected from a thermal power plant, pond ash is tested for physical, chemical, and morphological properties. According to the test results, pond ash is suitable for use as a fine aggregate in SCC. Coarse pond ash absorbs more water and then releases it, possibly increasing porosity in the structure. The pulverized pond ash from Rattan India Power Limited is used for research. newlineThe performance o
