Intrusion detection system has been an active research area in the newlinelast few years due to its growing importance in matters of security Intrusion newlinedetection is one of the canonical problems in wireless networks This thesis newlinefocuses on the detection of attacks in wireless networks In the past few years newlinethe performance and use of wireless technologies has increased tremendously newlineIntrusion detection is the ability of detecting inappropriate incorrect or newlineanomalous activities Due to the rapid growth of network applications new newlinekinds of network attacks are emerging endlessly So it is critical to protect the newlinenetwork from attackers thus making intrusion detection technology popular newlineThe goal of the intrusion detection system is to analyze events on the network newlineand identify attacks Detecting intrusions in distributed networks from outside newlinea network segment as well as from the inside is a difficult problem newlineThere are two basic types of intrusion detection systems namely newlinemisuse detection system and anomaly detection system Intrusion detection newlinesystem is planned to capture the malicious use of available services when newlineused in wireless system so that it protects availability and security of newlinelegitimate users Existing solutions for wireless networks can be used to attain newlinea certain level of such security newline newlineen_US
