Abstract: | Synthesis of Polysaccharide Based Hydrogels for Anti Cancer Drug Delivery and Green Synthesis of Their Silver Nanocomposites for Inactivation of Multi Drug Resistant Bacteria newline newlineThe current thesis is promptly designed on synthesis and characterization of natural newlinepolysaccharide-based hydrogels. These networks were used for in vitro controlled release of newlineanti-cancer drugs/chemotherapeutic agents i.e., 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) and doxorubicin newline(DOX). Also, developed polymeric silver nanocomposite systems and utilized as effective newlineantimicrobial agents. The thesis includes all the findings of the research work and their newlineresults are addressed in seven chapters. newlineStructure of Thesis newlineChapter I summarizes the general introduction to the research problem undertaken. A newlinevariety of polymer gums, their classification and gum polysaccharide based controlled drug newlinedelivery systems for cancer therapy have been reviewed with up-to-date literature. In specific, newlinethis chapter also represents a literature overview on natural plant gums, hydrogels and their newlinesilver nanocomposites for drug delivery and antimicrobial applications, respectively . newline newlineChapter II focuses on the experimental methods involved in the present work. First, the newlinesynthetic procedures are developed for synthesis of polysaccharide-based hydrogels and newlinesilver composite hydrogels. Second, different experimental methods used to perform newlineswelling studies, encapsulation efficiency, in vitro drug release kinetics, cell viability, newlineanti-oxidant and antimicrobial screening studies are also discussed. In addition, various newlinekinetic models used to investigate different physicochemical characteristics of hydrogel newlinenetworks and in vitro release kinetics. At the end of this chapter, different characterization newlinetechniques involved in the structural characterization of isolation of polysaccharide from newlinegums and related hydrogel networks are discussed. UV-visible spectrophotometry newline(UV-Vis.), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), nuclear magnetic resonance newlinespectroscopy (NMR), differenti |
