dc.description.abstractThe mobile phone has affected almost everyone in the Indian society, to women and newlinechildren it is a safety device; to carpenters plumbers and electricians it is a productivity newlinedevice, to young people it is a personality statement. It has relevant meaning to newlineeveryone in developing economies. Consumers on the fringes do not participate in the newlineformal economy because they need proof of some kind bank account, license and the newlinelike. Mobility lets many people enter the formal economy through its sheer simplicity. newlineIt is generally believed and observed that more and more entertainment will be newlinedelivered through mobility. Indians will click through the Net more on mobiles and less newlineon laptops. One will see more m-governance. Governments, departments will newlineincreasingly use the digitized route to superior governance. Mobility will considerably newlinereduce the role of the middleman in commerce and the role of unscrupulous elements in newlinedisseminating wrong information. It will bring in a democratization and efficiency of newlinemarkets and information. This will create a huge pressure on elected representatives to newlinebe answerable. Mobility will give marketers the ability to target one consumer at a time, newlinewhile also targeting millions as a media vehicle. newlineInterestingly with 660+ million people from rural India stirring to capture their rightful newlineplace in the economy and to cater to burgeoning demand of the existing metro markets, newlineit is imperative for handset manufacturers to be closer to the market to create greater newlineagility and flexibility in their supply chains, It is for this reason that telecom newlinemanufacturing has seen unprecedented investment in manufacturing over the last few newlineyears. The Government s decision to set up Special Economic Zones (SEZs) was aimed to newlinesupport hyper growth markets like telecom. As per some reports, the Government has newlineset a target of achieving close to $100 billion in investments in special economic zones newlineby 2025.
