Abstract: Nowadays patient safety is a burning issue worldwide. A robust quality management system is needed for the promotion of a patient safety culture. WHO Safe Surgery Saves Lives guideline is a second patient safety challenge introduced to create safe surgical practices to prevent adverse events during surgery. The standards set by the accreditation agencies help an organization to promote quality assurance protocols in terms of structure, process and outcome creating a culture of patient safety. newline
