Role of communication in self realization a study of the practitioners of philosophy of Soka Gakkai International SGI

Abstract

This study aims at finding how various communication methods, aids and tools affect the process of realizing the self. Self-realization is not new to humans. This study focused primarily on investigating the integration of communication practices, especially those pertaining to intrapersonal communication, into theprocess of Self-realization through the Buddhist practitioners of an organization, Soka Gakkai International (SGI). It highlights the challenges and dilemmas that seekers faced in their quest for Self-realization and the benefits that they reaped from their practices. The study aimed at finding the impact and scope of the usage of communication practices and benefits thus derived to the extent of achieving the goal of Self realization. The respondents for the study comprised BSG (SGI) members from Chandigarh, Delhi NCR, Hyderabad, and Mumbai. The research has discovered that the human beings suffer the incompleteness of knowing their real selves, the mysteries of life and death, and beyond. Such individuals wander in search of one way or the other that could quench their thirst for such mysterious knowledge. It could be concluded that deeper realms of the intrapersonal Self are explored to attain the goals of Self-realization and the ultimate awakening. newline
