Abstract: The addition of renewable energy sources (RES) with the distribution system not only newlinemitigates energy crisis but also introduces some complications such as unintentional islanding and protection problems caused by reverse flow of power in the power system newlinenetwork. Among these issues, unintentional islanding was the unacceptable mode of operation of the microgrid because it has negative consequences on the utility grid, including newlinesevere equipment damage, power quality issues, and safety hazards for the maintenance newlinepersonnel. Quick detection of islanding is a challenging task for the microgrid. In view of newlinethe above, various techniques for quick detection of islanding events have been proposed newlinein the thesis. newline
