Abstract: OBJECTIVES: 1. To assess the pre and post test scores of blood glucose level who were administered fenugreek seed powder among patients with NIDDM. 2. To assess the pre and post test scores of blood glucose level who were administered jamun seed powder among patients with NIDDM. METHODS: The conceptual frame work of the present study was developed based on General Ludwing Von Bertalanffy System Theory. This frame work was selected as it provides a way of understanding and predicting how fenugreek seed powder and jamun seed powder helps in maintaining blood glucose. As extensive search of research and non-research literature helped synthesize evidence of studies. In addition this study pursued and extensive systematic review by using Johns Hopkins Evidence Based Practice Model which formed the foundation towards developing tools and intervention for diabetes mellitus patients. The study was conducted in Jaya hospital (experimental group I) and Dennis hospital (experimental group II) in Kanyakumari District. The research was carried out among 390 NIDDM patients. 130 in experimental group I (fenugreek seed powder), 130 in experimental group II (jamun seed powder) and 130 in control group. The diabetes mellitus patients were selected by purposive sampling technique. CONCLUSION: The study conducted by the researcher to compare the effectiveness of fenugreek seed powder verses jamun seed powder among NIDDM patients along with regular treatment. The findings of this study showed that the jamun seed powder as well as fenugreek seed powder played a major role in maintaining glucose level and increase the general wellbeing among NIDDM patients. Study revealed that the fenugreek seed powder is more effective than jamun seed powder. Fenugreek seed powder and jamun seed powder was a complementary therapy were safe, free from side effects and can be prepared and practiced in their own home stings. The participants showed a positive attitude towards complementary therapy, they showed readiness to prepare and practice.
