Heterocyclic moieties are a type of organic compound that contains one or more heteroatoms. Common hetero-atoms like nitrogen (N), oxygen (O), and sulphur (S) are among them. These compounds can be found in abundance in both plant and animal sources. Indole, morpholine, piperidine, piperazine, and other heterocyclic compounds can be found in both natural and synthesized molecules. These moieties can be seen as a part of medicinal compounds acting as antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, anticancer, antivirus, antirheumatism, immunological modulator, expectorant, and analgesic, etc. Indole, also known as benzo[b]pyrrole, is an organic chemical molecule with the formula C8H7N that has a six-membered benzene ring fused to a five-membered nitrogen-containing pyrrole ring and is employed as a building block in medicinal chemistry. Itand#8223;s a planar heteroaromatic molecule with ten electrons moving around the structure. Because the lone pair of electrons on nitrogen is unavailable for protonation, protonation occurs at C-3, which is thermodynamically more stable due to the retention of aromaticity. The N position of indole serves as an active site for the attachment of heterocyclic molecules, resulting in N-substituted indole products. newline
