Abstract: | Renewable energy is gaining importance due to its inexhaustible nature and no GHG emissions. This work deals with the investigation grid instability based on parameters like voltage and current distortion on the grid side along with frequency distortion with variation in load when PV power is injected to grid. This thesis presents the simulation study for the actual site of PV system at Rewa Ultra Solar PV Project, Rewa (M.P.). The total capacity of the PV system is 750 MW (3 units of each 250 MW) with the load variation on the grid side. The experimental data presented are properly monitored and recorded from the actual site location of Rewa Ultra Solar PV station. The data is recorded for the whole year and the average value is considered during the analysis of parameters. Based on the simulation results drawn the grid instability parameters where investigated and than for validation compared with the average recorded actual site data. The reliability of the typical grid connected system is investigated through this work for the selected PV site location. The result shows the total harmonic distortion of voltage and current injected to grid along with the frequency deviation when the PV is injected to grid. The transient duration along with the harmonic profile of voltage and current is investigated in this work. The other parameters investigated are active and reactive power, power factor and energy import and export. Thus this thesis focuses on the impact of large scale PV system on grid stability and instability based on the simulation results and the results obtained by proper data monitoring and acquation of actual setup for the Rewa Ultra Solar PV station. The available data utilizes efficiently to produce accurate realistic results about the performance on the grid without overestimating or underestimating the impacts of the PV system. The method utilizes historical environmental data collected over a year to estimate the profile of the output power of the PV system. Hence, the interaction between the |
