The researcher by thesis research tries to find out the main object of criminal law that safeguards our society against lawbreakers and wrongdoers. So, for the protection of the state criminal law not only provides punishment to the offenders who commit any offence but also deter the future law breakers. Criminal law covers both substantive law and procedural law. The present study is based on the criminal justice system in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and India, three member countries of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC). In ancient times, the criminal justice system was preceded by the tooth for a tooth or eye for a eye rule, under which the victim of an attack might either submit or defeat the offender. But with the advancement of the society, some norms were established and enforced. As we know society is of dynamic nature, law changes according to the needs of the society. Now, the criminal justice system not only includes punishment for wrongdoer but also compensation to the victim. It not only supports the victim morally but also provide help in monetary form. newline
