Abstract: The thesis is a detailed study of complaints and allegations regarding the abuse and misuse of matrimonial and domestic violence laws by women and their families. It establishes that dominance of patriarchy in society not only affects the females but also has its negative impacts on their male counterparts. The study catalogues the several reasons responsible for conjugal conflict. The research further argues that the misuse of certain provisions of law like 498A IPC, Domestic Violence Act 2005 causes social, economic and psychological damage to the males and their families. The present study calls for gender neutral laws in order to find solutions to the conjugal conflicts. newline
