Abstract: | Queueing theory offers accurate solutions to many problems that newlinearise in industries, business, airlines, banks, hospitals, etc. In particular, fluid newlinequeueing systems are widely used in fields such as telecommunication newlinenetworks, traffic shaping in internet and computer-communication networks newlinesince they consider the discrete nature of the arrival process as a continuous newlineflow. This thesis deals with fluid queueing models driven by queues with newlinecatastrophes, vacations and different types of arrival and service strategies. newlineThe introductory chapter briefs the fluid queueing models under newlineconsideration and gives a complete literature review of the current newlineapplications and advances in the zone of fluid queueing systems. newlineChapter 2 considers a fluid queueing system in which the fluid newlineflow into the buffer is regulated by the state of the background queueing newlineprocess. In this model, the arrival and service rates follow chain sequence newlinerates in the presence of catastrophes. The buffer content distribution along newlinewith averages are found using continued fraction methodology. Numerical newlineresults are illustrated to analyze the trend of the average buffer content for the newlinemodel under consideration. It is interesting to note that the stationary solution newlineof a fluid queue driven by a queue with chain sequence rates exists in the newlinepresence of catastrophes. newline |
