Abstract: | Due to the tremendous growth in wireless communication for the newlinepast two decades, wireless communication has placed its footprint almost in newlineall the fields, owing to never ending user needs for multifunctional devices. newlineThe recent development in communication between the vehicles leads to newlineIntelligent Transport Systems (ITS). It improves transportation efficiency by newlinecombining transportation infrastructure with information technology for newlinesafety, traffic efficiency, and infotainment. Compact multifunctional antennas newlinewith good performance are in high demand due to the above criterion being newlineachieved, but the traditional monopole structure does not address the key newlineaspects simultaneously, in view of enhancing the performance by adding newlineflavors of left handed material to MIMO technology. newlineThis thesis elaborates on the design of an UltraWideband (UWB) newlineantenna and presents three different MIMO antennas with different techniques newlineto enhance the performance of the antennas and miniaturization of its newlinedimensions. To address the effective and improved compact wireless systems, newlineminiaturization of antenna dimensions and the better isolation between newlinedifferent elements in MIMO antenna are the key parameters. The first newlineproposed a monopole antenna and the desired bandwidth is obtained by using newlineslits in the ground surface. The second MIMO antenna is composed of three newlinedifferent monopoles with defected ground and connected to each other. The newlinethird MIMO antenna is evolved using trimmed meander lines and the ground newlineplane of each element is connected using plus shaped structure to impedance newlineand split ring resonator is incorporated in the patch to enhance the newlineperformance. The evolution of antenna design optimization is presented for all newlinethe antennas, and its results like return loss, radiation pattern, mutual coupling newlineare presented and the characteristics of MIMO structures are also analyzed. newlineThe design optimization is done by using the Ansys HFSS tool newline |
