Abstract: | Due to the sheer rising cost of crude oil and the intense emphasis on newlinefuel economy, vehicle manufacturers are focusing on various lean burn and newlinediesel engines. The rapid adoption of diesel engines in the automobile newlineindustry has resulted in an increase in global NOX emissions, one of the major newlinepollutants. It is also one of the secondary greenhouse gases, forming groundlevel newlineozone and photochemical smog when it reacts with other atmospheric newlinegases. Furthermore, NOX emissions cause acid rain by reacting with water and newlineoxygen in the atmosphere. NOX emissions from both on-road and off-road newlinevehicles are becoming increasingly stricter, according to the most recent newlineEuropean and American emission standards, and thus must be addressed newlineimmediately. Selective catalytic reduction has been the most widely used newlineexhaust gas after-treatment technique to reduce NOX emissions from diesel newlineexhaust for the past three decades. The basic principle behind this technique is newlineto use ammonia or urea as a reductant to convert harmful NOX emissions into newlineN2 and H2O.To date, zeolite-based composite is widely used catalyst in SCR to its excellent activity of NOX at higher temperatures with wide operating range of temperature window, tolerance towards sulfur and reasonable cost of newlineproduction. But commercially available zeolite is not much newline newline |
