dc.description.abstract | The single jersey cotton knitted fabrics have become part of our newlineeveryday clothing which cannot be avoidable. The comfort, light weight and newlineskin-friendly nature of the cotton knitted fabrics have brought this important newlinefor their use in close-to-skin garments. Though cotton fabrics have all the newlineadvantages, the problem of sustainability of the cotton materials has directed newlinethe researchers to move towards alternative fibres with the same features as newlinecotton textiles. This has aroused the use of modified cellulosic fibres in the newlineclothing and apparel sectors. Further, the use of elastomeric yarns in the newlinesingle jersey knitted fabrics also has increased to improve the dimensional newlinestability and ease the body movements of the wearer. newlineIn this study, the modified cellulose (Lyocell, Modal and Bamboo) newlinelycra-plated single jersey knitted fabrics were developed with two different newlineloop lengths(2.7mm and 3.4mm) and with different lycra plating (without, newlinehalf and full plating) along with the cotton fabrics of same variables. This newlineresearch work was done to find out the suitability of the modified cellulose newlinefibres in place of cotton to find out the sustainable alternative for the most newlinecommercially used cotton knit structure. Therefore the comfort aspect of all newlinethe modified cellulose single jersey knit fabrics with and without lycra newlineinsertion has been analysed and necessary recommendations have been newlineprovided in the work. newlineThe developed fabrics are tested for Dimensional, Thermal comfort, newlineMoisture Management and tactile comfort properties newline | |
