D: newlineChewing candy, used as a kind of mock meals, is a cost-effective and comfortable way to stimulate movement in the GI tract after undergoing significant GES. While the ERAS Society acknowledges it as a comprehensive method to speed up healing following an operation, there is an absence of convincing data to justify its regular usage in postnatal treatment. newlineAIM : This study is aimed to evaluate the efficacy of sham feeding using commercially available sugarless bubblegum in reducing the occurrence of post operative ileus following appendicectomy . OBJECTIVES: newlineThe main goal is to establish the correlation among gum chewing and the restoration of GI health after a straightforward appendectomy. newlineIn order to contrast the period required for newline1) Duration required for the initial occurrence of bowel sounds newline2) Initial expulsion of intestinal gas newline3) Initial bowel movement newlineA comparison was made between individuals who were administered chewing gum to enhance stool movement and the ones who were ignored. newlineMATERIALS AND METHODS 60 patients have been equally seperated into 2 classes with 30 peoples assigned in every of the groups who were one managed by giving commercially available sugarless bubblegum and the other who weren t given the bubble gum. Group 1 patients: in this group were treated with commercially available sugarless bubblegum. Group 2 patients weren t given the commercially available sugarless bubblegum. Both groups were then assessed based on the the initiation of bowel sounds. RESULTS Patients ranged in age from 36 to 40 years old. Patients who received commercially available sugarless bubblegum paid Rs 10 on average, while those who received medical treatment spent nothing. The cost of treatment/surgery did not differ significantly amongst the groups. It was noticed that patients who underwent sham feeding after their procedure initiated bowel sounds earlier than those patients who didn t undergo sham feeding. newline
